ACOI 2016 Recap
This past week I was in the state of California (Palm Desert to be exact) for the annual American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI). It was my first time on the west coast so I brought out the family with me but that wasn't the only reason why they made the trip. This year's conference was a special one for a couple of reasons:
First one of my best friends/classmates/fraternity brother was speaking for the first time on the national stage. His topic was on Prostate Cancer
The second reason was that I was receiving the degree designation of Fellow from the college. I'll tell you that I didn't realize the importance of getting the designation before hand but after walking around the conference, seeing & talking to the previous fellows and just sitting down listening to the history of the college I know now that it is an honor.
One of the highlights of the conference was not only meeting up with Dr. Ducatel but getting the degree of fellow along with another classmate of ours Dr. Sonia Daryanani, who is another amazing internist practicing out of broward county. She was definitely there with me during those long study sessions during medical school & I was as proud that she and Dr. Ducatel were receiving the designation as I was.
I definitely look forward into moving chapter within the organization after receiving a great motivational lecture during our convocation.
