Who Is Most at Risk for Colon Cancer?

Stages of Colon Cancer: What Do They Mean?

Treatments for Colon Cancer

The cornerstone of treatment for most stages is surgical removal of the tumor, ideally along with an adequate margin of healthy tissue. For early-stage disease, surgery alone is often curative. As the stage advances, however, additional therapies come into play. Chemotherapy, which uses drugs like fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan to target rapidly dividing cancer cells, may be given before or after surgery to shrink tumors or reduce recurrence risk.
